ZAKOPANE

Krokwia ski jump, Jaszczurowka Chapel, view point, Fatima’s Church, Koscieliska St. The Old Church and Peksowy Brzyzek cementary, Krupowki St.

Duration: 8 hours

Zakopane – the winter sport capital of Poland is one of the most atmospheric Polish cities with the Krupowki street known to everybody across the country.  The stark Tatra Mountains guard Zakopane and beckon the hardy hiker to walk beautiful trails and explore deep-wood forests, glacial valleys and waterfalls.  The Tatras are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making these mountains the cornerstone of Polish National park system.

Our tour will start at the bottom of a natural hill, called Krokwia, made famous by Poland’s own Adam Malysz, a world-class ski jumper leader.  We will visit the Jaszczurowka chapel and learn about zakopianski style in architecture created by Stanislaw Witkiewicz in 19th century.  We will ride through the streets of Zakopane, view 19th century buildings, stroll Krupowski street and encounter the highlanders known as Gorale, dressed in traditional costume.  Sample some oscypki or sheep milk cheese, a Polish delicacy and Polish bryndza, now the regional, confirmed by European Union, rarity.  On the way to and from Zakopane we can also visit an opened air Museum of Trains in Chabowka and the 19th century village Chocholow.
