We’ll explore Kazimierz, the historic Jewish district in Krakow, known for its rich history and cultural significance. Jewish communities have been part of Poland since the king ’s Kazimierz the Great reign in the 14th century. Initially living near St. Anne’s Church off the Main Market Square in Krakow before settling in Kazimierz. To the Jews, “Polen” was a great place to “Pol’in” or rest, according to a playful double-meaning on the Yiddish word for Poland.
We will stroll the quiet, cobbled streets, we’ll visit Remuh Synagogue and cemetery learn about Polish Jewish history, and hear about Oskar Schindler’s efforts to save Jews during the Holocaust.
